Community Play
Arakan’s first production was in June 2009, a community-based project funded by Halifax Primary Care Trust. Cent-her of the Family was a play that focused on the poor mental health amongst South Asian women; an issue not usually aired in public.
Over two, multi-lingual performances we reached health professionals and those from the Pakistani community in English, Urdu and Mirpuri. Feedback was excellent and in fact such was the impact of the play that some individuals were brought to tears.
I have worked closely with Arakan and the team has always delivered in a professional manner. The audiences have always provided a positive feedback to the performances. I would hope that NHS Calderdale can continue to build good relationships with your company.
Thank you for all your input to script writing and performing, the passion and enthusiasm of delivery has been recognised and the hard work has most certainly been contagious within the community and organisation. I wish Arakan and its performer’s good luck for the future, indeed it will blossom even further. Thank you.
