Arakan wins Mosaic Award
The Mosaic Network was founded by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in 2007, to challenge the growing concern around the issues facing young Muslims living in deprived areas of Britain. It increases education opportunities for those who do not have them and increases understanding between those of different ethnic backgrounds. Internationally, Mosaic now reaches into 17 countries.
The Mosaic Talent Awards 2010 were held at Battersea Power Station in London, to recognise, celebrate and nurture the amazing talent of young Muslims. There were 11 catergories in total, with Conor Ibrahiem of Arakan Creative shortlisted in the 'Arts & Culture' catergory along side Uzma Hasan, a film producer whose recent project was 'The Infidel', and the Zamana Foundation, who promote dialogue through the use of various artistic approaches. This category was sponsored by Penguin Books.
Conor Ibrahiem was the winner of the 'Arts & Culture' award, presented by Chantella Noel of Penguin, Monica Ali, writer of the successful 'Brick Lane' and Her Royal Highness Princess Badiya bint El Hassan of Jordan.
Conor would like to thank all those who have helped Arakan since its formation, the judges and staff at Mosaic - with a special acknowledgement to his fellow finalists for the hard work they have done - and prays Allah blesses you all with continuing success. Ameen.
