The Disturbances: 10 years on
On July 7th 2001 Bradford hit the headlines due to a huge public disorder that has remained a stigma on our city to this day. The conference explored how state policy rolled back race relations and civil liberties and was jointly orgainised by JUST West Yorkshire, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Bradford Resource Centre and the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust.
Arakan was asked to dramatise a series of recent interviews of those in some way involved on the day of the public disorder, alongside guest speakers in attendance.
In light of the 2011 disturbances in London and other cities, it is ever more important to harness the power of the communty to tackle those, and lets say it like it is, MORONS who are showing no regard for people, property or the image of the UK.
We hope and pray that our cities and residents are protected and can stand firm against any threat that deems to distablise the community.
