Transforming Bradford

Artistic Director Conor Ibrahiem was among 17 proud recipients of the UnLtd Social Futures Award 2011. The cash award provides practical and financial support to Social Entrepreneurs; people with vision, passion, drive and commitment, who want to change the world for the better. In this case, the world happens to Bradford and all projects have their city and its people at the heart of their campaigns.

The funding has been used to create a legacy to our theatre project - Xtremism - which was produced in April 2011. The plan is to reach wider audiences (predominantly schools/colleges) by producing a filmed version of the play and build it into an educational DVD resource pack. We are nearing the end of post production and will keep you updated as to when the DVD is available.

The Social Future's scheme is run by Bradford Council, the UnLtd organisation for Social Entrepreneurs and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. We at Arakan would like to thank them all very much and the best of luck to our fellow award winners.
